Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Rhythms ("we", "us", or "our"), a faith-based mobile app for daily Bible reading, habit tracking, an AI companion, and community challenges. By creating an account or using Rhythms, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Eligibility

Rhythms is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Rhythms only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the app you represent that you meet these requirements.

Your account

When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Rhythms lawfully and respectfully. You may not:

• Post or share content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, obscene, or infringing on others' rights, including in community challenges and the social feed.

• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app, other users' accounts, or our systems, or interfere with or disrupt the service.

• Reverse engineer, scrape, or use automated means to access the app except as permitted by law.

• Use the app to develop a competing product or to violate any applicable law.

We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

User content

You retain ownership of the content you create or post (such as habits, reading plans, challenge posts, and images). By posting content in community features, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the app. You are solely responsible for the content you share and confirm you have the rights to share it.

AI companion disclaimer

Rhythms includes an in-app AI companion that uses OpenAI to generate responses for scripture reflection and conversation. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate, and does not represent professional, theological, medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice. Do not rely on the AI companion as a substitute for qualified professional guidance, and avoid sharing sensitive personal information in companion chats. You use the AI companion at your own discretion.

Subscriptions, billing, and auto-renewal

Rhythms offers an optional Premium subscription that unlocks additional features. Subscriptions are offered on a recurring basis (for example, monthly or annual).

• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your payment method will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

• Apple App Store purchases. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. You can manage and cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

• Google Play purchases. Payment is charged to your Google Play account. You can manage and cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your Google Play account settings.

• Web purchases (Stripe). Web subscriptions are processed by Stripe and managed through your account billing settings, where you can view, update, or cancel your subscription.

• Entitlements. We use RevenueCat to manage and verify subscription and entitlement status across platforms.

Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the store or billing platform you used to purchase it (Apple, Google, or Stripe). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access to Premium features until then. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and refund requests for App Store or Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies.

Free trials and price changes

If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. We may change subscription prices; where required, we will give you notice and the opportunity to cancel before a price change takes effect.

Intellectual property

The Rhythms app, including its software, design, text, graphics, and logos (excluding your content and third-party scripture or content), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

Third-party services

Rhythms relies on third-party services, including OpenAI, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, Stripe, and SendGrid. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rhythms and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50.

Termination

You may stop using Rhythms and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the app ends, though certain provisions (such as limitation of liability) survive.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated within the app. Your continued use of Rhythms after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where applicable consumer-protection laws provide otherwise.
